Depending on the LED type and the operating parameters, the modular heat sink concept comprises active air cooling for standard as well as optional water cooling for high-end applications. The LED board temperature is continuously controlled to prevent over heating. Intensity control can be performed by either an analogue potentiometer with a constant current or digitally by pulse width modulation with frequencies up to 50 KHz.
