I graduated from Camberwell School of Art with a degree in textile design. I later worked as an archaeological illustrator and began to illustrate childrens and educational books. As a qualified teacher I taught for some years in primary and special schools in Kent before moving to the South West where I trained to work with kiln formed glass.
