My passion and aspiration is to create striking and original fabrics of complexity and beauty; whose colours appear to ripple and pulsate, shifting chameleon-like as light diffuses across their unique textures. The scarf should embody a rhythm of pleats, coiling and twisting, almost becoming a living thing. I draw my inspiration from the natural world around me – exotic birds, sea creatures, flora, the living landscape. My interpretation of the ancient Eastern craft of Shibori has two distinctive elements, bringing together the artisan and the artist, a union of control with the uncontrollable.
